Welcome to the homepage for the Hornsea Branch of Haltemprice Judo Club. In addition to the sessions run at Hornsea, the Club also runs sessions at Haltemprice, Beverley, Pocklington and Woodford. Hornsea Branch's club coach is Dave Platten.

The Hornsea Branch runs Junior sessions at Hornsea Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings from 6pm - 7pm and on Saturday mornings 11am - 12am.

The club is affiliated to the British Judo Association ( see certificate below ) and training is based on the BJA's syllabus for Mon gradings. ( see Grading Info page for more detail ) Gradings are held at approximately 6 month intervals at the Club Coach's discretion. ( see Events page for details of next scheduled grading )

New starters should wear loose fitting clothing such as a long sleeved top ( eg rugby shirt ) and tracksuit bottoms. Parents should ensure that toenails and fingernails are cut short so as to prevent injury to other Judo players. Please note that minimum starting age is 5 years but children must be in year 1.

Judogi ( Judo uniforms ) can be purchased through the club coach.

Please note it is the responsibility of the Judo player or parent to maintain a current BJA licence for insurance purposes. Players cannot grade or compete without a current licence.
