Welcome to the homepage for Beverley Haltemprice Judo Club. In addition to the sessions run at Beverley, Haltemprice also runs sessions at Haltemprice, Hornsea, Pocklington and Woodford. Beverley Haltemprice Judo Club's Chairman and senior club coach is Danny Kissenisky. Danny, a Commonwealth Championships Silver medalist, has had a distinguished career in Judo and is a full time Judo Instructor, instructing in many schools in the East Yorkshire region.

The Club has attained Sport England's Clubmark, the British Judo Association's Bronze Club Award and Level 1 and Level 2 of the East Riding Club Accreditation Scheme. The Club has also been awarded a Certificate of achievement by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. (Copies of Certificates can be seen below the navigation buttons on the left)

The Club runs the following training sessions;

Saturday morning training : 08.30 to 11.30 at Beverley Leisure Centre.
If you enter the main entrance to the leisure centre and turn right at the reception desk, the training room is through the first door on the right.
Timings are ; 08.30 - 09.15 for 5 to 8 year olds ( Kano grades ). 09.30 - 10.30 for 8 to 11 year olds ( Mon Grades ). 10.30 - 11.30 for 11 to 16 year olds ( Mon Grades )

Friday after-school club training : 3.40 to 5.20 in Cherry Burton Primary School hall.
Timings are ; 3.40 to 4.25 Class 1, 4.35 to 5.20 Class 2.

New starters should wear loose fitting clothing such as a long sleeved top ( eg rugby shirt ) and tracksuit bottoms. Parents should ensure that toenails and fingernails are cut short so as to prevent injury to other Judo players. Please note that minimum starting age is 5 years but children must be in year 1. The club is affiliated to the British Judo Association ( see certificate below ) and training is based on the BJA's syllabus for Kano Club awards and Mon gradings. ( see Grading Info page for more detail ) Gradings are held at approximately 6 month intervals at the Club Coach's discretion. ( see Events page for details of next scheduled grading )


Judogi ( Judo uniforms ) can be purchased through the club coach.


Please note it is the responsibility of the Judo player or parent to maintain a current BJA licence for insurance purposes. Players cannot grade, compete or even attend training without a current licence ( with the exception of new starters - see Membership page ). The BJA's official policy is; NO LICENCE - NO JUDO.
